Group presents the 2010 SolarWorld Einstein Award and increases foundation
fund of  TU Bergakademie Freiberg

SolarWorld AG will present the SolarWorld Einstein Award once again this
year. The group bestows the award on figures who have earned merit in the
field of photovoltaic technology, making a significant contribution to
developing solar power. In addition, junior scientists who have advanced
photovoltaic technology in a thesis can enter the competition for the
SolarWorld Junior Einstein Award until June 30. This award comes with a
prize of 5,000 euros. An award ceremony will take place in September on
the occasion of the 25th European Photovoltaic Conference in Valencia,
Spain.

'With the SolarWorld Junior Einstein Award, we want to promote the
enthusiasm of young people all over the world for the solar idea and the
solar industry and generate innovative ideas all around the topic of
photovoltaic technology,' explains Frank H. Asbeck, chairman and CEO of
SolarWorld AG.

At the group's main production site, in Freiberg, Germany, the group also
promotes the work of young scientists. SolarWorld increased the 3-year-old
foundation fund of the Technical University Mining Academy Freiberg by
25,000 euros, bringing the foundation's capital stock to a total of 275,000
euros. Earnings from this fund finance basic research projects of the
chemistry and physics faculties and improve study conditions at the Mining
Academy. The intensive relationship with this research establishment
promotes early recruitment of experts in various fields.

About the SolarWorld Einstein Award: Figures from research and development,
but also from industry and politics, have been honored since 2005 with the
SolarWorld Einstein Award. Award winners who acquired special merit in
using solar energy - and therefore nurturing planet Earth - are Dr. Rupert
Neudeck, for the use of photovoltaic technology in development aid, 2009;
Prof. Antonio Luque-Lopez, Spanish photovoltaic pioneer, 2008; Dr. Martin
Green, developer of the most efficient mono-crystalline solar cell, 2007;
Dr. Adolf Goetzberger, founder of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy
Systems, 2006; Dr. Klaus Töpfer, former German minister of the environment
and later head of the United Nations Environmental Program, 2005. Since
2006, SolarWorld also has offered the SolarWorld Junior Einstein Award for
junior scientists. For more information, go to www.einstein-award.de.
