Leading Swedish energy technology keeps Chalmers warm

Opcon Bioenergy, a subsidiary of Opcon, the energy and environmental
technology Group, has received an order from Akademiska Hus Väst, the
second largest property company in Sweden, which during the summer of
2011 will install Opcon Bioenergy's leading technology for flue gas
condensation to improve the energy efficiency of the boiler system at
Chalmers University of Technology.

The boiler system is included in a research infrastructure and is run
primarily on biomass. The boiler is an important part of Chalmers'
research and education programme, and the installation of flue gas
condensation technology, in addition to enhancing energy efficiency,
means that students will get first-hand experience of a plant that
contains all of the components required for a extremely modern system.

“Opcon is an engineering-rich business with cutting-edge skills in
thermodynamics, heating theory and energy conversion. We already have
links with the Royal Institute of Technology. Now students at Chalmers
will learn about our technology, which will obviously help us in the
future with our recruitment and new partnerships,” says Claes Scheibe,
president of Opcon Bioenergy AB.

“Most of our production within bioenergy is exported, and already this
year we have entered two new international markets with our flue gas
condensation plants. Opcon is an expanding, high tech company with a
focus on international growth so we must continue recruiting the most
talented people. It's really good to build closer ties in this way with
Chalmers, who are also very active in the energy field,” says Claes
Scheibe.

The order is worth around SEK 5.5 million.

Opcon Bioenergy is part of energy and environmental technology Group
Opcon's Renewable Energy business area, whose focus areas include Waste
to Value and a special emphasis on Waste Heat Recovery and bioenergy.
Under the RenergiTM brand, Opcon Bioenergy supplies systems for
treatment and enhanced energy efficiency to biomass-powered district
heating plants, sawmills, pellets manufacturers and commercial
greenhouses. Treatment equipment is also supplied to industrial
businesses and drying systems for biomass.

In the bioenergy sector, Opcon Bioenergy offers a full service from
design of complete combined heat and power plants to handling systems
and incineration plants under the SaxlundTM brand. The Group also
supplies Opcon Powerbox for production of green electricity based on hot
water or saturated steam.
