Long-term cooperation between HMS Bergbau AG and German Pellets GmbH 

- Participation in the growing global wood pellets market
- HMS Bergbau AG adds wood pellets to its service portfolio

Berlin, January 18, 2011: HMS Bergbau AG, an international coal supplier
with operating know-how of coal mining, transport and trade, and German
Pellets GmbH, Europe's largest manufacturer of wood pellets, have agreed to
enter into an exclusive long-term cooperation.

HMS Bergbau AG will contribute and use all of its sourcing options and
become the exclusive distributor of German Pellets' wood pellets, an
environmentally friendly and sustainable energy source, to new industrial
customers.

'Together with HMS Bergbau AG, we have now created an excellent foundation
for gaining new global market shares and generating continuous sales
growth,' explained Peter H. Leibold, CEO of German Pellets GmbH.

'The cooperation between German Pellets GmbH and us will combine a high
degree of competence in production on the one hand and excellent marketing
know-how when it comes to selling to power plants and industrial customers
on the other. We hope this expansion of our service portfolio to cater for
the generally growing wood pellets market will lead to a continuous
increase in sales,' commented Heinz Schernikau, CEO of HMS Bergbau AG.


About German Pellets GmbH:
German Pellets GmbH was founded in 2005 and within five years has become
Europe's largest manufacturer of wood pellets, with a current production
capacity of 1.1 million tonnes annually. The company operates eight sites
in total, employs around 350 people, is managed by its owner, enjoys an
excellent financial position and is expected to have achieved an estimated
EUR 150 million in sales in 2010. With a 40% share in the German market,
the company also exports large quantities to its neighbouring European
countries. German Pellets owns state-of-the-art facilities that produce a
large variety of pellet grades. This enables the company to optimally
respond to the diverse needs of individual consumers and large industrial
customers. In addition to wood pellets, German Pellets' subsidiary, German
Horse Pellets, has been successfully producing animal bedding products for
large and small animals and pets since 2008.
