ShareThis Named as an AlwaysOn OnMedia Top Private Company

Sharing Leader Recognized as a Top 'B2B Technology Enabler' on List of 100 Top Advertising, Media and Publishing Companies

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - January 24, 2011) - Today, ShareThis, the world's largest market for sharing and influence on the Web, announced that it has been selected for the 2011 OnMedia 100 Top Private Companies list. This is the second time in three years that ShareThis has been honored by the AlwaysOn editorial team.

The OnMedia 100 award recognizes cutting edge technology companies that have emerged as leaders in the worlds of advertising, media, marketing, branding and publishing. The winners are chosen from hundreds of U.S. and international technology companies, which are nominated by industry leaders, investors and journalists. In 2009, ShareThis won the "Technology Innovator in Web Services & Digital Content Publishers" award, and this year were recognized as part of the "B2B: Technology Enablers" category.

With more than 400 million users across nearly 1,000,000 websites, ShareThis is changing the way information is navigated and organized based on how people interact and relate to each other online. ShareThis allows users to share content from anywhere to anyone, while simultaneously enabling publishers and advertisers to understand and tap into the value of sharing in order to better reach and address their consumers.

During the past year, ShareThis released a collection of products for each of its primary audiences, aimed at increasing ease of sharing for consumers while also allowing publishers to take advantage of cutting edge sharing technologies. New launches included consumer products such as the ShareThis Stream, publisher tools including the Trending Content widget, the Influence Insights analytics platform and new sharing buttons, as well as AudienceShare for advertisers, an advertising platform which helps brands reach sharing audiences anywhere on the Web.

"This list clearly shows how the economics of online publishing are shifting toward social interaction and audiences," said ShareThis CEO Tim Schigel. "This sharing economy is central to how online publishers monetize their audience, how advertisers better target theirs, and how media companies spread their content through meaningful interactions of those audiences. ShareThis' inclusion on the OnMedia list is another huge sign of how much that economy has taken shape and how fast it's growing."

The winners will be officially honored at the OnMedia NYC 2011 conference in New York City, where Schigel will be speaking on the opening night panel at 6:45pm on January 31, 2011 at The Paley Center for Media. Other panelists include the CEO's of BlueKai, Millennial Media, and Better Advertising. Tony Perkins, founder and editor of AlwaysOn, will be moderating the discussion.
