Avianor Granted $700,000 in Funding From Government of Canada to Strengthen International Market Standing

MIRABEL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 18, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of State for Canada Economic Development, today announced the awarding of $700,000 in repayable financial assistance to Avianor Inc. This funding will help the firm carry out a $3,545,000 project that could lead to the creation of some 100 jobs within the next three years.

"The Government of Canada is lending concrete support to the aerospace industry. This is an important economic sector for the Mirabel area, and the contribution we are granting to Avianor Inc. is a clear reflection of that," explained Minister of State Lebel.

This Avianor project represents one of the largest investments made by the company since its founding. The Mirabel firm intends to use the government funding to acquire equipment, improve its plant facilities and integrate new information technology. The company will thus be in a position to gain a stronger foothold in the international marketplace as a supplier of integrated aircraft maintenance and upgrade services.

This funding is being awarded through Canada Economic Development's Business and Regional Growth program, whose aim is to strengthen the conditions conducive to the sustainable growth of Quebec's regions and small and medium-sized enterprises.
