Express-1 Presented a Gold Award by Great West Casualty Company

BUCHANAN, Mich., April 20, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Express-1, a division of Express-1 Expedited Solutions, Inc. (AMEX:XPO), a premium transportation and logistics provider, has received a Gold award by Great West Casualty Company as part of the 2010 National Safety Awards Program.

The National Safety Awards program recognizes carriers in similar operations (truckload and less than truckload) with awards based on their year-end preventable accident results. This past year, the National Safety Awards program drew over 800 participants from across the country.

Great West Casualty Company is the nation's leading provider of property and casualty insurance for the trucking industry. With over 50 years experience, Great West offers risk management, underwriting, claims and loss control services exclusively to the trucking industry.

Larry Larson, Express-1's Vice President of Safety, said, "We are accepting this award on behalf of our drivers. We establish the processes and procedures, but they are the ones to carry out the plan, day in and day out." Express-1 President Jeff Curry said, "I am very proud that our efforts in safety have been recognized by the leading provider of casualty insurance in the trucking industry. We measure our preventable accidents and have consistently been well below our own tough standards. Our trucks covered approximately 32 million miles in 2010, so maintaining a gold standard safety rating is a great accomplishment."
