EwingCole Names New President

PHILADELPHIA, June 1, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EwingCole, one of the nation's leading architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firms, is pleased to announce that principal S. Mark Hebden, AIA, LEED AP has been named President of the firm.

"For any organization to be successful for 50 years requires a succession of leadership" said Hebden. "Our planned transition at the executive level of the firm is a catalyst to creating new leadership opportunities throughout the firm."

Hebden has grown through five different leadership roles within the 320-person firm, including initiating new markets, practices and leading new office locations.

"The firm fosters entrepreneurship by developing and mentoring new leaders," stated Hebden. "My career is proof of the freedom and support that exists at EwingCole."

Hebden has led clients in healthcare, higher education, senior living and most recently cultivated the growth of EwingCole's government practice including major projects for GSA, USDA, NASA and mission critical BRAC projects for the US Navy and the US Army including the US Military Academy at West Point.

"The diversity of our design expertise and the successful delivery of this expertise to clients both nationally and internationally are critical components for our success," stated Hebden.  "This diversity has also sustained us in the recent economic slowdown."

Hebden is succeeding John Gerbner, AIA, who served as President from 2005 to 2011. Gerbner will continue working with clients who include Fox Chase Cancer Center and Geisinger Health System, one of two systems recognized by the Obama Administration as a model for cost-effective healthcare.

Based in the firm's Philadelphia headquarters, Hebden is a LEED-accredited professional, active in the Society of American Military Engineers' DBIA, and a member of the American Institute of Architects.  He is a resident of Cherry Hill, NJ.
