The global standard in broadband testing and operator of Speedtest.net, Pingtest.net and NetIndex.com is also #31 on Inc. list of Top Telecommunications Companies

Seattle, WA, Sept. 6, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ookla™ (www.ookla.com), the global leader in web-based network diagnostic applications, today announced that it ranked #921 on the 30th annual Inc. 500/5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the United States. In addition, the company was ranked #31 on the list of Top Telecommunications Companies. This is the second consecutive year that Ookla has made the list, putting it in an elite class of private companies that once included other multi-year alumni, such as Microsoft, Zappos, Intuit and Oracle.

"As a relatively young company, it is extremely gratifying to make the Inc. 500/5000 for the second consecutive year," said Mike Apgar, co-founder and managing partner of Ookla. "Over the past year we have worked hard to maintain and grow our status as the de-facto standard for broadband speed measurement, expanding our mobile applications, improving the user experience and growing our broadband statistics site, Net Index. Seeing our name on this list once again is a testament to the team’s dedication and consumers’ appetite for broadband knowledge."

Ookla's broadband testing methodology is used to perform more than 100 million tests each month, with more than 200 million unique users accessing its web properties, Speedtest.net and Pingtest.net, in the past twelve months alone. As the global standard for broadband measurement, the company has also focused on growing its mobile presence with the recent release of new versions of its mobile applications for the iPhone iOS and Android operating system. To date, the apps have been downloaded to more than 14 million mobile devices, with an additional one million devices added each month.

The Inc. 500/5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2007 through 2010. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2007. Additionally, they must be based in the United States, privately held, for profit and independent - not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies - as of December 31, 2010.
