MacAulay-Brown Awarded 2011 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility in Dayton

Recipients Ranked in the Top 20 Percent of Employers Nationally in Terms of its Programs, Policies and Culture for Creating an Effective and Flexible Workplace

Dayton, Ohio, Sept. 21, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MacAulay-Brown, Inc. (MacB), a leading engineering and technical services company supporting the U.S. Defense and Intelligence communities with over 2,000 employees worldwide, announced today that for the second consecutive year, it has been awarded the nationally recognized Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in the Workplace in Dayton. The Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce will recognize MacB as a Sloan Award recipient on November 16th at the Sloan Awards Celebration Event.

Winners of the award have distinguished themselves as an employer on the leading edge of developing and implementing effective and innovative workplace strategies to achieve business goals and benefit employees. The rigorous, two-step selection process involved an evaluation of MacB’s programs and practices and a confidential employee survey. According to When Work Works, the sponsor of the award, recipients of the 2011 Sloan Award rank in the top 20 percent of employers nationally in terms of its programs, policies and culture for creating an effective and flexible workplace.

"It is indeed a great pleasure to accept the Sloan Award on behalf of the MacB family," said Sid Fuchs, President and CEO of MacAulay-Brown, Inc. "Of particular importance is the fact that our employees took part in the process and endorsed the work we have done to build a culture that is positive, productive and customer centric. In addition, the award is a great testament to the programs we have put into place to ensure our employees have the tools they need that makes them the best in the business."

"Our research consistently finds that employees in effective and flexible workplaces have greater engagement on the job and greater desire to stay with their organization. In addition, they report lower stress levels and better overall health," states Ellen Galinsky, president of Families and Work Institute (FWI), a research think tank on workforce and workplace trends that administers the awards.

The Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility recognize exemplary employers across the U.S. for their innovative workplace effectiveness and flexibility initiatives. These are worksite-based awards, and for multi-site employers it is the local worksite that is considered for the award. Using a rigorous scoring methodology that includes employees' views as well as employer practices in its scoring, the Sloan Awards honor organizations and worksites that are using workplace flexibility as a strategy to increase workplace effectiveness and yield positive business results, and to help employees succeed at work and at home.
