Lanx to Showcase New Timberline(TM) Lateral Fusion System & Aspen(TM) MIS Family at NASS Annual Meeting

Andrew Cappuccino, MD to Present on the MIS Benefits of Timberline(TM) and Aspen(TM) at Lanx NASS Booth

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Oct. 31, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lanx, Inc., a privately held medical device company focused on developing and commercializing innovative devices for spinal surgery, announces the successful completion of its Timberline™ Lateral Fusion System alpha launch. The Timberline System is one of seven new product releases this year from Lanx that will be showcased along with its market leading Aspen™ MIS Fusion System at the North American Spine Society (NASS) annual meeting, November 2-5, Chicago, IL.

Andrew Cappuccino, MD, orthopaedic surgeon and Chair of Lanx's Surgeon Advisory Board, will present on the unique MIS solutions provided by the Timberline System and the Aspen MIS Family at the company's NASS booth on Wednesday, November 2nd at 10:45 a.m.

Dan Gladney, Chief Executive Officer, Lanx, said, "The introduction of Timberline, coupled with recent enhancements to the Aspen Family, strengthens our position as a leader in providing innovative minimally invasive solutions. We look forward to beginning to train surgeons on Timberline's minimally invasive access benefits in preparation for our full commercial launch in early 2012."

The Timberline System is a complete lateral access fusion system; including rectangular PEEK interbody spacer devices, a low profile modular retractor system, a fiber optic lighting system and uniquely designed instruments to aid in access and implantation. Lanx has partnered with Cadwell Laboratories, Inc. to provide a lateral approach specific neuromonitoring solution.

"With Timberline I feel I am using the newest and most advanced tools available to perform surgery from the lateral approach. Its radiolucent retractor and simplified instrumentation are two clear improvements compared to other lateral system alternatives," said Dr. Cappuccino. "Timberline is a true complement to the Aspen MIS System, allowing Lanx to offer surgeons a procedural solution for fusion when minimally invasive lateral and posterior fixation are desired."

The Aspen Family includes the standard Aspen™ System, Aspen™ Flared 5-1, Aspen™ Medium and LPlate™ Low Profile spinous process fixation implants, all designed to accommodate different anatomies with a variety of shapes and sizes to promote fusion.
