Thad Pryor Responds to CNN Obesity Report, Encourages Emphasis on Children's Fitness

A New CNN Report Suggests That Americans Are Not Winning the War Against Obesity, but Emphasizing Fitness From an Early Age Could be the Answer. Childcare Professional Thad Pryor Responds, Encouraging Kids' Fitness to be Made Top Priority.

NEW BERLIN, Wis., Jan. 25, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Are Americans winning the war against obesity? According to a new CNN report, they aren't exactly losing it, but they aren't making forward progress, either. The report reveals that 36% of adults and 17% of kids and teens are obese, and while this number has not risen dramatically over the past couple of years, it has also not decreased. The CNN study goes on to say that obesity is a bigger problem in some demographics than in others, and that black and Hispanic kids and teens are especially struggling with obesity. These findings affirm the stance taken by Children of America CEO Thad Pryor, whose emphasis on children's fitness programs has long been a hallmark of his childcare curriculum.

According to Thad Pryor, truly effective childhood development is full-orbed and well-balanced, incorporating not just academic growth but also athletic and physical cultivation. Thad Pryor has made a Presidential Fitness Program one of the cornerstones of the Children of America curriculum, and has emphasized physical fitness and athletic development at each of the company's nationwide childcare locations.

This emphasis finds affirmation in the CNN study, which suggests that emphasizing physical fitness while kids are still young could be the secret to winning the obesity war. The study finds that "the best way to lower rates is to stop people from getting fat in the first place." Indeed, the position taken by Thad Pryor is that teaching kids about fitness from the very beginning is the best way to cultivate the life-long habits of health and physical wellness.

CNN's report is only one reason among many for Thad Pryor's championing of the Presidential Fitness Campaign. The Children of America CEO, himself a former martial arts champion, cites both the all-time high childhood obesity rates and diminishing school physical education budgets as reasons for Children of America's fitness focus.
