Xirrus Appoints Calix CEO Carl Russo to Board of Directors

Telecommunications Industry Veteran and Former Cisco Executive Brings Industry Leadership and Strong Operational Background to Bolster Xirrus' Next Phase of Growth


THOUSAND OAKS, CA--(Marketwire - Feb 22, 2012) - Xirrus®, the leader in high-performance wireless networking, announced today the addition of Carl Russo to its Board of Directors. Currently president and CEO of Calix, Inc. (NYSE: CALX), a global leader in access innovation and provider of broadband communications access systems and software to over 1000 communications service providers worldwide, Russo has a history of leading innovative communications companies to positions of market leadership. In his new board member position, Russo will help guide Xirrus' growth and expansion as the leading provider of high-performance wireless networks.

A Board of Directors member at Calix since the company's inception in 1999, Russo assumed his role as president and CEO in 2002. Russo also served as vice president of optical strategy and group vice president of optical networking for Cisco from 1999 to 2002 -- a role he assumed after Cisco acquired Cerent, where he was president and CEO.

Prior to Cerent, he served as COO at Xircom (later acquired by Intel), where he was responsible for sales, marketing, development, and manufacturing. He has also held executive management positions at Network Systems Corporation (later acquired by StorageTek) and at AT&T Paradyne. Russo also currently serves on the board of directors for Vital Network Services, and is on the board of trustees at Swarthmore College.
