RDA Microelectronics Sampling Low Noise Amplifier for GPS Applications on Smartphones

SHANGHAI, China, March 7, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- RDA Microelectronics (Nasdaq:RDA) ("RDA Microelectronics" or the "Company"), a fabless semiconductor company that designs, develops and markets Radio Frequency (RF) and mixed-signal semiconductors for cellular, connectivity and broadcast applications, today announced sampling of its RDALN16 high-gain low noise amplifier chip designed for GPS applications on smartphones.

The RDALN16 is produced using an advanced SOI CMOS process and packaged in a compact 1.5mm x 1.0mm form factor. The device integrates the output network and DC-block capacitors to simplify the printed circuit board design and it also provides enhanced ESD protection. The amplifier is optimized for applications requiring a higher gain of up to 18dB. The device also provides ultra-low noise performance at 0.8dB and a broad operating range of 1.6 to 2.8volts, while consuming less than 0.1uA in standby mode.

Commenting on the product introduction, Vincent Tai, chairman and CEO of RDA Microelectronics, stated, "RDA continues to demonstrate its technical capabilities through high performance integrated products targeting the growing smartphone market. The RDALN16 offers ultra-low noise operation and power performance, while also significantly reducing the components and design costs. GPS functionality on smartphones is being offered more frequently by the handset manufacturers due to the increasing demand for this feature. We look forward to launching additional products aimed at the smartphone market as we move into more advanced handsets and increase RDA's available silicon content through our continued product innovations."
