OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 12, 2012) - The Competition Bureau is organizing a panel discussion in Montreal as part of its 2012 Fraud Prevention Month initiatives. The discussion, also presented as a webinar, will introduce a panel of experts who will share their knowledge and offer practical advice on how to avoid some popular schemes and fraudulent offers-such as free-offer, debt-relief, antivirus software sales, and job opportunity scams. The panels will address emerging threats and the risks Canadians face when transacting in the online and mobile environments.

Guest speakers include Prof. Mourad Debbabi, Director, Concordia Institute for Information Systems Engineering, Sgt Michael Haring, Integrated Technological Crime Unit, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and Dominic Thérien, Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Competition, Quebec and Atlantic regions, Competition Bureau.
