Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center Commends Carleton University for Recognizing and Dealing With Campus Antisemitism

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 11, 2012) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) commends Ottawa's Carleton University for recognizing that antisemitism has become a growing problem for both students and faculty on campus, and for taking steps to address the issue head-on.

"Carleton President, Dr. Roseann O'Reilly Runte, has shown true leadership in acknowledging the antisemitic atmosphere and activities experienced by Jewish students and educators at Carleton, which are disturbingly becoming more common at university campuses across the country," noted FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. A newly released report by the Carleton University Commission on Inter-Cultural, Inter-Religious and Inter-Racial Relations on Campus deals primarily with issues experienced by Jewish students and faculty, as well as matters particular to Aboriginal students at the university.
