Right to Repair is Now Law

SkipQuestion1.com Urges Voters to Skip First Massachusetts Ballot Question

BOSTON, Oct. 12, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- According to the Citizens Committee for Safe and Fair Repair, parties on both sides of the Right to Repair issue are urging voters to visit SkipQuestion1.com and learn more about why they should ignore the first ballot question on Election Day.

The Massachusetts legislature passed a legislative solution to the Right to Repair issue this summer that has since been signed into law by Governor Deval Patrick. Despite the fact that Right to Repair is now law and the ballot initiative is no longer necessary, it is too late to remove Question 1 from the November ballot.

According to SkipQuestion1.com, this law ensures a level playing field where all repair shops, independent and franchised dealers alike, can compete for customer business based on reliable service at a fair price.

"The Right to Repair law is a victory for everyone," said Harry-Jacques Pierre, a spokesperson for the coalition group. "Consumers and independent repairers benefit because information and tools will always be made available for purchase. Automaker innovation and intellectual property and dealer investments are protected."

SkipQuestion1.com recommends that the best way for Massachusetts voters to support the Right to Repair law already in place is to skip Question 1 on November 6, 2012.
