Edgewater Ranks in Top 10 of Massachusetts Women-Led Businesses

WAKEFIELD, Mass., Dec. 10, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Edgewater Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:EDGW) ("Edgewater"), a leading consulting firm that brings a blend of business advisory and product-based consulting services to its clients, has been recognized by the Commonwealth Institute and Boston Business Journal as one of the top women-led businesses in Massachusetts.

The Commonwealth Institute and Boston Business Journal hosted the 3rd Annual Top 100 Women-Led Businesses awards ceremony on December 6, 2012 at the Sheraton Boston to recognize and celebrate women business leaders in Massachusetts. Edgewater placed 10th on the list, improving from 13th on last year's list. The annual rankings are based upon total revenue.

"We continue to see positive signs in our business and are pleased that our ongoing growth is recognized by our peers," commented Shirley Singleton, Edgewater's chairman, president and CEO. "The invitation to moderate the panel discussion on job creation strategies is a great honor."

Ms. Singleton co-founded the company in 1992 with her partner, David Clancey. She began her career as a high school teacher and coach. When she abruptly lost her job due to budget cuts, Shirley successfully transitioned into a new career – computer programming. Ten years later, Shirley co-founded Edgewater Technology. Since its inception, Edgewater has grown from a privately-held, five-person shop, into a multi-million dollar, publicly traded technology management consulting firm with employees working across the globe.

During her tenure, Ms. Singleton has been presented with numerous awards and recognitions, including one of the top 100 woman-led businesses in Massachusetts by the Commonwealth Institute and Boston Business Journal. She was also recently appointed to the board of trustees for the North Shore Medical Center in Beverly, MA. Ms. Singleton is a graduate of Northeastern University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and she has also received a Doctorate of Humane Letters from Endicott College.
