FlyersPulse Takes Off Into Second Year

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Dec. 17, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, FlyersPulse.com celebrates one year as an independent travel and aviation news website. Founded by Steve Richardson in December of 2011, the mission of FlyersPulse is to provide travel news the public can use along with great travel deals through a network of brand-name affiliates.

"I started the site as a hobby, but as requests for travel assistance came in, I quickly realized the need for an independent travel and aviation news source," said Richardson.

Over the past year, FlyersPulse aggressively reported on topics from airline bankruptcies, including the demise of Spanair and Malev, labor actions and "add-on fees" with the consumer in mind. As the US airline industry consolidated this past year, the independent site kept readers informed about the merger between Continental and United Airlines along with Southwest Airlines absorbing AirTran into their network.

Important consumer issues regarding flight delays, cancellations, missed connections and denied boarding compensation are brought to light. Additionally, the site features airline news, including new routes and aircraft such as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Coverage of American Airlines and their bankruptcy re-organization has been followed with importance because of a potential take-over by US Airways.

During major weather events over the past year, including Superstorm Sandy, up to date information about airport closings, re-openings and ground transportation challenges was published to assist travelers.

Founder and Managing Editor Richardson recently traveled to Silicon Valley to cover the pre-launch of ANA's new 787 Dreamliner service between San Jose and Tokyo-Narita. "As an independent travel site, it's important to learn about and experience new products first-hand, be it a new aircraft type, passenger seat, product, or service," said Richardson.

With the upcoming holidays, it's not too late to provide the gift of travel.   FlyersPulse provides numerous suggestions from gift cards for lodging to tickets for popular tours, activities, and attractions across the United States. Richardson added, "It's never too late to gift a para-sailing experience, the opportunity to tour San Francisco by Segway, or tickets to the Skydeck at Chicago's John Hancock Building and remember, you can always treat yourself to something special."

As a self-proclaimed aviation and travel guru, Richardson is well traveled, both domestically and internationally, and is familiar with the ins and outs of the commercial aviation industry.   Richardson and his staff have visited over 35 nations spanning all six inhabited continents. As FlyersPulse transitions into next year Richardson commented, "Be on the lookout for new features, I have a few cards up my sleeve."

FlyersPulse.com is based in Louisville, Kentucky, known for the fastest minute in sports the first Saturday of each May with the running of the Kentucky Derby.
