National Hellenic Museum Presents Trial of Socrates Event

CHICAGO, Jan. 17, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Hellenic Museum releases more tickets for the most significant legal appeal in nearly 2,500 years - The Trial of Socrates. To accommodate ticket demand, the event will take place in the Grand Ballroom at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel located at 17 E Monroe in the Grand ballroom on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 6 pm.

This is a once in a life time opportunity to watch some of the country's foremost legal minds as they re-try one of the biggest freedom of speech cases of all times. Judge Richard A. Posner presiding, William J. Bauer, former Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals, and Anna Demacopoulos, Circuit Court Judge, and a jury of distinguished citizens of Chicago, will decide the validity of these charges.

Socrates will be defended by Dan Webb (Winston & Strawn) and Robert A. Clifford, (Clifford Law Offices). Counsel for the City of Athens consists of former U.S. District Attorney, Pat Fitzgerald (Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, and Flom, LLP), and former prosecutor Patrick M. Collins (Perkins Coie).

The jury will include: Alderman Walter Burnett, 27th Ward; Paul Meincke, WLS-TV; The Honorable Margaret Frossard, John Marshall Law School; John Calamos, Calamos Investments; Larry Yellen, FOX News; The Honorable Peggy Chiampas, Cook County Municipal Department District 1 Judge; Dan Mihalopoulos, Chicago Sun-Times; Neil Steinburg, Chicago Sun-Times; Illinois Senate President John J. Cullerton; and Ameet Sachdev, Chicago Tribune.
