BEIJING (China Content Broadcasting Network Exhibition - Hall: 3; Booth # 3403), March 21, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Entropic (Nasdaq:ENTR), a world leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home and JiangSu Yinhe Electronics Co., Ltd (Yinhe), a leading manufacturer of digital television multimedia receivers, announced today Yinhe has integrated Entropic's c.LINK® 1.1 Broadband Access solution into its next-generation High-Definition (HD) set-top box (STB) for advanced Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) implementations at leading Chinese multiple service operators (MSOs).
Yinhe selected Entropic's c.LINK EoC Broadband Access solution because c.LINK is a proven EoC solution, and can overcome bandwidth challenges by scaling with MSOs' video network requirements. Further, MSOs can realize dramatic cost advantages when c.LINK is integrated into a STB, as it reduces solution costs and operational expenses.
Yinhe's new generation of HD STBs can be seamlessly added to operators' c.LINK EoC networks; enabling operators to rapidly deploy innovative value-added video on demand (VOD) services with a cost-effective single-box solution. By incorporating Yinhe's HD STB into its network, MSOs create an interactive or two-way system where the STB becomes the conduit to increasing ARPU (average revenue per year) and subscriber satisfaction achieved through new service offerings.

Entropic's c.LINK 1.1 EoC is based on the EN3511 Network Controller (NC) and the EN3530 Client Premise Equipment (CPE). Key technical features include:
- Reliability – based on the field proven MoCA® (Multimedia over Coax) 1.1 chipset technology, for which Entropic has already shipped more than 50-million MoCA 1.0/1.1 chipsets;
- Lower Total Systems Cost – achieved through its highly integrated 65nm single-chip SoC and optimized bill of materials (BOM) costs;
- Increased Performance – providing more than 270 Mbps of raw data bandwidth and more than 175 Mbps of application throughput;
- Backward Compatibility – to the currently deployed system (EN3011/EN3230) in the field offering a seamless upgrade path; and
- Support for Quality of Service (QoS) Performance Attributes – with high immunity to electrical interference and stringent low latency time-division-multiplexing protocol (TDM).

The Yinhe single box two-way HD STB is currently sampling, and will be in mass production in Q2 2013.
