Asante Partners With Diasend to Streamline Snap Insulin Pump Data Management

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 12, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Asante Solutions Inc., manufacturer of the new Asante SnapTM Insulin Pump, has partnered with Diasend, developer of a system to transmit, store and monitor patients' glucose readings and insulin doses, to allow downloading of patient data from the Snap Insulin Pump to Diasend's web-based data management solution.

Under the agreement, medical offices will be able to utilize the Diasend software system to analyze data from their patients who are using the Snap Insulin Pump.

"Each pump and meter can use a different software program, yet Certified Diabetes Educators say they already have too many software programs in the office," said David Thrower, CEO of Asante. "We want to make things easy, not more complex by offering yet another proprietary software solution that forces educators to learn a new system. Under this partnership, if an Endocrinology office uses Diasend now, which many do, they will be able to simply download the data from the Snap Insulin Pump into their existing Diasend solution.

"Our simple-to-use Snap pump takes less time for educators to train patients, so they have more time to teach patients about the many other important aspects of diabetes management," said Thrower. "The ability to easily download our pump data is the necessary next step to making the Snap Insulin Pump faster and easier for our customers."

Under the partnership, Snap Insulin Pump data can be downloaded into the Diasend program as early as Q4 of this year. This is the second partnership for data management that Asante has recently announced. All current Snap users will be eligible to upgrade to the downloadable insulin pump for just $99 when it is available.
