The Berry Company Acquires Black Book Directories, Brings Small and Medium Business Advertising Solutions to Baltimore Suburb

Photo Contest Launches for Cover of Howard County Directory

BALTIMORE, Aug. 5, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Berry Company, a local leads provider serving small and medium sized businesses for over a century has acquired the Black Book directories from the Baltimore Sun. The Howard County directory will be published in December. Advertising opportunities are now available.

With the announcement, Berry simultaneously launched a photo contest – residents of Maryland are encouraged to submit photos that show what living in Howard County means to them. The winner of the contest will have their photo published on the cover of the new directory this December. Participants can enter by visiting www.Facebook.com/BerryMeansBiz.

"The Black Book remains a vital part of the advertising mix for Howard County businesses. Consumers continue to turn to the yellow pages and business white pages when looking for local products and services," said Jim Moran, chief operating officer for Berry. "Berry offers a full suite of print and digital marketing options to ensure small businesses will be found wherever consumers are looking."

The Berry Company is a full-service marketing partner that offers print and digital advertising solutions designed to meet the needs of today's small and medium businesses regardless of budget. Berry serves a variety of markets throughout the U.S., offering turn-key products designed to allow clients to focus on running their business, versus handling marketing and promotions.

The Berry Company will also bring a more a high tech solution to The Black Book, offering SnapTag technology. Similar in context to QR Codes, SnapTags offer more flexibility and customization. Instead of just taking consumers to a link, SnapTags open up a whole new line of interactive communication, one that can be tracked and used to build strong relationships with consumers. And, instead of an indecipherable black and white lined square, SnapTags can be customized with logos or icons or any other image that can fit inside the SnapTag ring.

Recent research indicates that consumers continue to actively use the printed directory, in addition to online sources, for information on local providers of products and services. The Berry Company helps advertisers ensure they are accessible wherever consumers are searching by providing traditional directories, online directories, web sites, search engine marketing, video and more.

"We know that today's consumers use multiple sources to find local businesses, and we strongly support digital alternatives, including our own leading local search products: YP.com, websites, search engine marketing, online video and more," said Moran.
