NEW YORK, Feb. 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Butler Snow has expanded into New York, and is pleased to announce that Stanford G. Ladner has joined the firm. Ladner joins recent addition David M. Cohen, a member of the firm's Product Liability, Mass Tort and Environmental Group.

Ladner is a member of the firm's Public Finance, Tax Incentives and Credit Markets Group. His practice focuses on public finance, banking law, business and commercial transactions, energy law and regulatory compliance and advice.

Ladner has spent his career advising banks, investment firms, municipalities and private industries on how to navigate the public financing sector. He earned both his bachelors and masters degrees in economics before earning his Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. Ladner has been named in The Best Lawyers in America®, public finance law, and is a fellow of the American College of Bond Counsel. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the National Water Resources Association, where he previously served on the Board of Directors, and is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, where he is the past vice chairman of the committee on selection and evaluation of bond counsel.

Cohen's practice focuses on toxic torts, products liability, and pharmaceutical litigation and counseling. He has spent more than 15 years helping clients defend allegations of disease diagnosis and causation. Cohen has served as lead science counsel in multi-plaintiff mass tort litigations and individual lawsuits alleging claims of personal injury and product liability. During this period, he cross-examined more than 90 different physicians and scientists. Cohen's experience crosses many different medical specialties including, epidemiology, neuroscience, pathology, toxicology, pharmacology, radiology, neurology, cardiology, pulmonology and cancer. He has led challenges to the admissibility of expert witness opinion testimony, culminating in courtroom roles at Daubert, Frye, and Havner proceedings. Cohen earned his bachelor's degree from Union College before earning his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law. He also studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He has been recommended in The Legal 500 U.S., named a New York Super Lawyer, and has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2012.
