400 Guests Get Sneak Peek at 2014 Cayucos Sea Glass Festival

Limited Number of Visitors to Get First Dibs on Art, Jewelry, and More

CAYUCOS, Calif., Feb. 12, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Thousands of visitors from all over the world will converge at the fourth annual Cayucos Sea Glass Festival on March 8 and 9 to enjoy art, hand-crafted jewelry, family friendly activities, live music and more.

New at this year's festival is the Preview Shopping hour – an opportunity for a limited number of guests to beat the crowds and arrive early for a sneak peek at all the goodies this year's festival has to offer. Only 200 people will be admitted each day for this Preview Shopping hour.

"Our vendors say that this is the best sea glass craft show in the nation because they sell more products here than at any other show," Festival Chairwoman and co-creator Catherine "Kiki" Kornreich said. "Thirty-eight vendors will be travelling to Cayucos from all across the country. With all of these various vendors, festivalgoers can experience the most diverse selection of sea glass merchandise in comparison to past years."

The festival will take place at the Cayucos Veterans Hall right at the foot of the historic Pier in Cayucos, CA on March 8 and 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The entry fee for both days is $5, but the first 200 guests will be admitted an hour early each day for a Preview Shopping hour from 9 to 10 a.m. The entry fee for the Preview Shopping hour on both days of the festival is $15. All proceeds from the festival will benefit the Fourth of July Cayucos Fireworks Show.

The event will be jam-packed with sea glass craftspeople, family friendly activities, a silent auction, tours of vacation rentals, a Sea Glass Discovery Center, and live music from the Mystery Brothers, The 805s, Tennessee Jimmy Harrell and the Lenny Blue Band.

Guests will also get the opportunity to win fun giveaways and prizes, including Cayucos getaway packages awarded to two lucky fans of the Cayucos Sea Glass Festival's Facebook page. Currently, there are two Cayucos vacation packages up for grabs on the Facebook page, and two lucky winners will win.

More than 5,000 attendees gathered at the festival last year, and even more are expected this year. "Saturday is usually the busiest day and has been the day that sells out quickly, so we're encouraging guests to beat the crowds and check out the festivities on Sunday or attend the Preview Shopping hour," Kornreich said. "The 4th Annual Cayucos Sea Glass Festival is looking out to be the best yet, so it is certainly a don't-miss event.

Joining the wide variety of worldly vendors will be nationally acclaimed author and sea glass expert Richard LaMotte, who returns to the festival as a vendor for the second consecutive year.

For families attending with younger children, be sure to look out for the wandering mermaids. Sea glass is said to be the tears of mermaids, so children will have the opportunity to take photos with these wondrous beauties.
