Dutch Ministry of Defense signs secure voice agreement with Sectra

The Dutch Ministry of Defense has signed an order with IT and secure
communications company Sectra (STO:SECT B) (http://www.sectra.com) for the
encrypted mobile phone Sectra Tiger
7401 (http://communications.sectra.com/security-solutions/tiger-7401). The
device is used to protect voice and data communication from eavesdropping, also
by other countries’ Security Agencies. The Ministry and Sectra have also
extended their existing framework agreement for secure communication solutions
for another two years. The order value is estimated to EUR 580,000.
The extended framework agreement with Sectra encompasses service and maintenance
for the secure communication systems already in use at the Ministry. It also
includes an option for Sectra Panthon (http://communications.sectra.com/security
-solutions/panthon), which is a smartphone app for secure voice and data
communication and text messaging. Since Sectra Panthon and Sectra Tiger 7401
have been approved for different security classification levels, the individual
security needs of the Ministry’s users will be easier to match.

“The recent eavesdropping disclosures once again show the need for more secure
communication systems. Unprotected telephone calls and messages pose a security
threat to individuals, organizations and nations,” says Michael Bertilsson,
President of Sectra’s Secure Communications business area. “The Ministry has
shown high security awareness for many years and this agreement ensures that the
Ministry can continue to keep its national secrets secure, in the best possible
manner.”

The Dutch Ministry of Defense has been using Sectra’s secure communication
products since 2004. The products are used by defense force branches, such as
the Royal Netherlands Navy, the Royal Netherlands Army and the Royal Netherlands
Air Force, as well as the central defense command.
