Twelvefold Hires Accomplished Research Scientist Andy Crossen to Aid in the Development of Spectrum

San Francisco, March 20, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Twelvefold, a big data company that uses a proprietary platform and algorithms to understand consumer mindset and target audiences in real time without the use of cookies, has hired Andy Crossen as Research Scientist. Andy's extensive experience in recommendation, search and natural language processing (NLP) solutions in a Big Data context makes him an exceptional asset in the development of Spectrum, Twelvefold's proprietary ad tech platform.

Crossen comes to Twelvefold with a Ph.D. in Computer Science and six patents under his belt, all related to contextual search and text mining.

Prior to this most recent appointment, he designed, built and maintained the text mining suite at Perfect Market, an Idealab company providing software solutions for digital publishers. Crossen was also founder and lead architect at Media River, Inc., where he created the company's widget platform.

"It's truly a privilege to work with Andy again," says Jay Budzik, CTO of Twelvefold. "He has a rare combination of talents and experience that make him an ideal addition to the team.  He's an accomplished engineer who is both highly inventive and practical. His experience delivering and supporting highly scalable and accurate text analysis systems will be invaluable as we continue to lead the market in deriving mindset from content at the impression level and in real time."

Crossen is currently leading R&D on the Twelvefold Index, which is used to help match consumer intent with web, mobile and video content at scale. He has also developed a new kind of relevance score that lets the company evaluate how well a content target matches an advertiser's goals. Additionally, Crossen has created social media matching algorithms, as well as a flexible, extensible and highly performing programming language for data integration.

Crossen has published several papers and has spoken at industry events such as the International Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces and the Workshop on Planning and Scheduling for Web and Grid Services. He also co-authored a chapter on emerging music technologies for the book Consuming Music Together.
