RegEd's Margie Webber to Serve as Governance Chair on SILA's Board of Directors

Raleigh, NC, March 25, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- RegEd today announced that Margie Webber has been appointed as the Governance Chair on the Securities & Insurance Licensing Association (SILA) Board of Directors. Webber formerly held the title of SILA President in 2008 and currently serves as RegEd's Senior Compliance Specialist, responsible for regulatory affairs. This includes conducting research on federal and state insurance and securities legislation, as well as regulations and administrative rules.

SILA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing education and best practices for the insurance and securities industry. The organization provides a venue for industry and regulators to work together to streamline and improve licensing and registration across the country. SILA is governed by a Board of Directors who provide direction and guidance regarding the organization's operations and functions. The members are comprised of volunteers nominated by SILA membership and voted into office by the Board of Directors.

"I've been active in SILA since 1992 and have witnessed, first-hand, the value of the partnership and collaboration that the organization facilitates among its industry members, the regulators and solution providers.  SILA has advanced operational best practices, contributed to building the knowledge of L&R professionals, and has delivered more efficient, streamlined licensing and registration processes to the benefit of all members", said Webber. "I've enjoyed being part of this industry progression and I'm honored to serve as SILA's Governance Chair."

The Governance Chair is appointed by SILA's President and is responsible for overseeing bylaw compliance, making recommendations for bylaw changes and overseeing eligibility issues.

"As our first President, Margie Webber led SILA's transition as an independent, non-profit educational organization," said John Humphries, President of the SILA Board of Directors.  "She helped lay the strong foundation that assured today's successes and established our strong industry presence that SILA and its members enjoy today.  We are all excited that Margie has rejoined our leadership team as we continue to build our future."

Before joining RegEd in 2010, Webber provided compliance and registration-related consulting and outsourcing through Maggie Shine, LLC, a cram school and study material provider based out of Kansas City, MO. Prior to her position at Maggie Shine, she served as Assistant Vice President of the Licensing and Registration Unit at Waddell & Reed, Inc. in Overland Park, KS. During her tenure with Waddell & Reed, Webber led her team in the registration and registration-related compliance matters for two broker/dealers, five investment advisors, 11 insurance agencies and approximately 2,500 financial advisors.

During her time as President and Advisory Board member, Webber has played an instrumental role in SILA's transition to a 501(c)6 non-profit association, as well as the creation of SILA's bylaws, mission, vision and strategic plan. She was honored with SILA's Above and Beyond Recognition Award in 2010, and received the Special Achievement Award in 2003, as well as the Robert C. Kennedy Appreciation Award in 2002.
