SSH COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY RECEIVES A SIGNIFICANT EXPANSION OF SECURE SHELL KEY REMEDIATION AND ACCESS CONTROL SERVICES FROM MAJOR FINANCIAL INSTITUTION

HELSINKI, Finland – March 26, 2014 A major financial institution has placed a significant order for additional Secure Shell key remediation and access control consulting and professional services. The order expands on a successful project that began in late 2012. The total value for this new order is approximately USD 1.1 million. The revenue will be recognized during  the second quarter of 2014.

Large banks and financial institutions are becoming aware of the risks of unmanaged access to their Secure Shell environment. In a data center of approximately 15,000 servers it is not uncommon to find upwards of 1.5 million user keys. In many cases these keys grant a high level of administrative access to systems that handle customer financial data, credit cards, and personally identifiable information. Many of these keys have been assigned to employees that have been terminated, are redundant, or grant access to systems in violation of security policy and compliance regulations.’

SSH Communications Security’s consulting and professional services provide organizations with the necessary expertise and resources to remedy security and compliance issues and to implement best practices designed to improve the customer’s security posture by:

  • Deploying Universal SSH Key Manager™
  • Discovering all user keys in the environment and mapping trust relationships
  • Locking down the environment so that only authorized administrators can deploy new Secure Shell keys
  • Identifying, testing, and removing keys that are no longer needed, all while ensuring business continuity
  • Rotating all keys to limit the risks of a compromised key being used by an attacker and to eliminate any backdoors
  • Continuous monitoring and enforcement of proper approvals

“We are seeing a rapid increase in malware, advanced persistent threats, and nation-state sponsored attacks targeting Secure Shell keys,” said Tatu Ylönen, founder and CEO of SSH Communications Security. “Secure Shell is the trusted solution for machine-to-machine communications, remote access, and data-in-transit encryption in the data center and is used extensively by virtually all of the G2000. Our professional services teams have managed the largest Secure Shell access control and key remediation projects in the world and we are consistently called on to help these organizations solve complex security and compliance issues while maintaining business continuity.”

Universal SSH Key Manager™ is unique in the marketplace as it is the only full-lifecycle, minimally invasive access control solution that automatically discovers, deploys, rotates, removes, and monitors Secure Shell keys.
