Housing Trust Silicon Valley Presents 2014 Investor Briefing With Congressman Mike Honda on April 23

State of Affordable Housing Initiatives in Santa Clara County

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 9, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Over the past 13 years, Housing Trust Silicon Valley (HTSV) has been fighting for more affordable housing options for the residents of Santa Clara County. On April 23, HTSV will be presenting its 2014 Investor Briefing to provide an update to the community about the impact of its affordable housing efforts, and the current state of affordable housing.

The annual luncheon event will take place at the Santa Clara Convention Center from 10:30 a.m to 1:00 p.m., and will feature a keynote address by Congressman Mike Honda (D-CA17). Congressman Honda has worked extensively in support of homelessness assistance and the creation of livable communities for working families, and will address current legislation, and how it pertains to the Valley. The event is open to the public, and attendees include housing professionals, Housing Trust supporters and partners, elected officials and the public at large.

The Investor Briefing Master of Ceremonies will once again be Carl Guardino, President and CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, one of the original founders and former board members of the Housing Trust.

"We feel that it is critical to speak directly to the Silicon Valley community each year about the state of affordable housing and what we are doing at the Housing Trust to have an impact on this," said HTSV CEO Kevin Zwick. "The lack of affordable housing is directly impacting businesses who are seeking to bring in new talent, and is also affecting our community's ability to retain its diversity. We are continuing to seek partners to join us in promoting new affordable housing programs and legislation that will protect opportunities for current and future residents of Silicon Valley."
