NEW YORK, May 20, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Museum of American Finance, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and the nation's only independent museum dedicated to finance, today announced that R.W. Pressprich, a New York-based institutional broker dealer, will sponsor free admission for students this summer.

Students of all ages with valid identification are invited to tour the Museum free of charge Tuesdays – Fridays, from 10 a.m.–4 p.m., compliments of R.W. Pressprich. During their visit, students will also receive an authentic historical stock certificate.

"R.W. Pressprich is dedicated to helping young people understand the many positive accomplishments of the world of finance. The Museum has an extensive collection of financial artifacts and interactive exhibits such as "The Fed at 100" and "Money: A History" that make it an ideal place for students to expand their financial knowledge," said Edward J. Rappa, Chairman and CEO of R.W. Pressprich & Co. and a trustee of the Museum of American Finance.

This is the second consecutive year that R.W. Pressprich has sponsored free student admission over the summer, and in 2013 the Museum saw a 57% increase in visitorship during that period.

"Our Museum plays an important role in educating visitors about the financial successes and challenges throughout our nation's history," said David Cowen, the Museum's President and CEO. "R.W. Pressprich and Ed Rappa's dedication to helping students appreciate the importance of finance is impressive and continues to help us to fulfill our educational mission."

The free student admission program will run from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Historical stock certificates will be available to students while supplies last.
