COSTA MESA, Calif., June 4, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The management and employees of Morgan Drexen Integrated Systems (http://www.morgandrexen.com) announced the scheduling of community events for the month of June, including their second company-wide blood drive of the year on Friday, June 27th to be held at the company's headquarters in Costa Mesa.
Timing of the Morgan Drexen blood drive for the American Red Cross is critical due to the traditional drop-off of much needed blood donations during the week leading into the Fourth of July holiday.
"The week going into the Fourth of July is a difficult time period for the Red Cross because their need for blood donations goes up due to injuries and accidents, while at the same time the number of blood donors goes down," said Walter Ledda, Morgan Drexen's Chief Executive Officer. "So we decided to harness the capability of our 200 employees to help boost blood supply levels when they are really needed."
This will be the second of four blood drives planned for Morgan Drexen, who last year was honored with the American Red Cross's coveted "Platinum Award" for the largest percentage of increased blood donated year over year.
"Having a company-wide blood drive is also a good way to demonstrate just how easy it is for a company to make a difference in their own community," said Joe Lizura, Vice President of Media and Public Relations. "The location of our corporate headquarters is in an area where we have good visibility from many other companies – some of whom may be inspired to have a blood drive of their own!"
Morgan Drexen has also scheduled its very first 'Animal Adoption Awareness Day" to help facilitate a greater understanding of the process of adopting pets heading into the summer months.
"We are happy to be working with the Animal Assistance League of Orange County (AALOC) and the Irvine Company to put this event together," said Dina Iglesias, Morgan Drexen's Manager of Human Resources. "AALOC will be on hand with cats and dogs – as well as all of the information a perspective family or individual needs to learn about what's involved with the animal adoption process."
The Morgan Drexen Animal Adoption Awareness Day is Friday, June 13th at the Noguchi Garden on Anton Blvd., and will be open to the public. "We encourage anyone who works or lives in the area and who may be considering the adoption of a pet this summer, to come out and learn about the process first hand," added Dina Iglesias.
