FAIRWINDS AMONG TOP 10 DOMAIN-NAME RECLAIMERS IN THE WORLD

WASHINGTON, June 20, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- For the second year in a row, FairWinds Partners ranked among the top 10 companies in the world representing clients in Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) complaints before the National Arbitration Forum (NAF), according to a survey conducted by a domain name watch service.

FairWinds, a domain name strategy consultancy, ranked No. 6 in the survey of 1,487 cases examined by Systonic's Keep Alert service, ahead of industry giants such as Arent Fox, LLP, Tepper & Eyster, PLLC, and Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, among others.

"FairWinds' reclaim service has a near 100 percent success rate," said Leslie Phillips, Sr. Vice President for Marketing and Communications. "Because of our extensive experience in dispute resolution and the firm's focus on strategic prioritization of domain name portfolios, we have a sixth sense about which cases will stand up under scrutiny.  Our clients depend on us when it comes to trademark infringement in the online space."

The NAF ruled favorably on a total of 29 FairWinds cases in 2013. Since it started providing domain enforcement services in 2009, FairWinds has successfully recovered domain names for clients in over 230 cases filed before a variety of arbitration bodies.  Nearly a third of these cases were favorably settled before a decision was handed down.

Adding to FairWinds' recognition in this field, Counsel Steve Levy, who runs FairWinds' reclaim service, is a panelist for the NAF for Post Delegation Dispute Resolution Procedures (PDDRP) disputes, and is also eligible to hear UDRP cases. Levy conducts frequent webinars on FairWinds' risk-free UDRP services to improve results and reduce the cost of reclaims. Clients pay only if the reclaim petition is successful.

The UDRP is a rights protection process established by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to resolve disputes over the registration of Internet domain names.  The PDDRP is another process by which trademark owners may take their claims directly to a registry profiting from a bad-faith registration, bypassing the owner of the domain name and the registrar.

FairWinds Partners provides domain name strategy advice and services to Fortune 500, 100, and 50 clients, including McDonalds, American Express, L'Oréal, and Merck.
