Wingstop, Moe's Headline QSR Magazine's Best Franchise Deals

Fifth-Annual Report Singles Out 12 Quick-Service Restaurant Brands That Deliver the Best Bang for Franchisees' Buck

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., July 1, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Wingstop, Moe's Southwest Grill, and Which Wich Superior Sandwiches are among the 12 quick-service and fast-casual brands named Best Franchise Deals by QSR magazine in the publication's fifth-annual report.

The Best Franchise Deals report analyzes brands' franchisor support, average unit volume, sales-to-investment ratios, and market niches, among other things, to determine which investments give franchisees the most bang for their buck.

"The limited-service restaurant industry is more competitive today than ever before, and with hundreds of brands trying to grab a share of the consumer dollar, the pressure is on for prospective franchisees to partner with a company that offers both profit potential and a unique concept," says Sam Oches, editor of QSR. "Our Best Franchise Deals report is an attempt to make that decision a little bit easier, whether for first-time franchisees or veterans looking to add another brand to their portfolio."

For the second consecutive year, this year's Best Franchise Deals was divided into three groups based on brand size: the Hungry Upstarts, the Rising Stars, and The Powerbrokers. The Hungry Upstarts, or emerging brands preparing for national growth, includes Old Carolina Barbecue Company, Tin Drum Asiacafé, Burger 21, and Teriyaki Madness; the Rising Stars, or established brands ready for the next growth step, includes Fuzzy's Taco Shop, Toppers Pizza, Barberitos, and Shane's Rib Shack; and the Powerbrokers, or brands with national name recognition, includes Wingstop, Moe's Southwest Grill, Which Wich Superior Sandwiches, and McAlister's Deli.

"When you look at the sales potential, start-up costs, and franchisor support from these 12 brands, there's no doubt any of them are worth a careful look for anyone looking to start or grow a franchise portfolio," Oches says.
