The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), also known as the Affordable Care Act (ACA), is a United States federal statute signed into law on March 23, 2010. A new electronic health record mandate was added to PPACA to ensure the protection of privacy, while streamlining the medical record system.
