Tech Data's TechEDG Fed Partner Summit Focuses on Business Development

Unveils TechEDG Alliance Program to Solution Providers

CLEARWATER, Fla., July 17, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tech Data Corporation (Nasdaq:TECD) today announced that it hosted its TechEDG Fed Partner Summit on July 15-17, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Reston, Virginia. Channel partners in attendance at the event learned new growth opportunities and ways to capitalize on public sector business. At the event, Tech Data introduced TechEDG Alliance, a membership program offering access to a full range of tools and resources to help grow solution providers' businesses in both government and education markets.

"The TechEDG Fed Partner Summit provided valuable education and insight for solution providers seeking to identify, qualify and capture federal business opportunities," said Kaye McMillan, director of Sales Planning and Business Development at Tech Data. "The expert lineup of speakers helped attendees discover new business solutions and fostered discussions around how to fully leverage evolving IT trends within the public sector marketplace. The partner summit offered the right mix of leading vendors, education and ways to leverage the partnership with Tech Data, including the introduction of the TechEDG Alliance program."

The event included a Federal Solutions Showcase highlighting the latest IT solutions available for federal end users. It provided informative sessions to enable attendees to position their business to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the single largest purchaser of IT products in the world—the U.S. federal government. Throughout the event, the Tech Data Public Sector team and distinguished speakers were on hand to educate and enable public sector reseller success, including offering valuable peer-to-peer networking opportunities.

Featured speakers at the event included Anthony Robbins, vice president, Federal Sales at Brocade; Snehal Antani, chief information officer Commercial Distribution Finance and chief information officer Enterprise Architecture at GE Capital Americas; Paul Karch, founder and chief executive officer at Gardant Global; and Carmine Taglialatela, Jr. principal and founder, Oak Hill Farm Group. Attendees at the TechEDG Fed Partner Summit also heard from John Slye, Advisory Research Analyst at Deltek, who discussed how to overcome and address cyber security challenges that federal agencies are facing.

The TechEDG Alliance program provides value-added services to increase opportunities for growth in state and local government, as well as education markets, including government-bid and contract support, marketing, sales and business development, partnership and support. Through the program, Tech Data will provide members with a dedicated team of support, GSA consulting, integration services, financing, special pricing and promotions. TechEDG Alliance members are invited to exclusive networking events at Tech Data's Public Sector Summits as well as an early invitation to the event. Additionally, members receive dedicated resources and support from the Government Bid Response and Contract Support team whose members have the experience and knowledge necessary to quickly assist in securing contract-specific pricing for complicated public sector bids.

"As always, the TechEDG Fed Partner Summit was extremely informative and it provided me with the additional value, education, and partnerships that we need to grow the Public Sector side of our business," said Richard Fly, director of Government Programs at iT1. "The TechEDG team has played a vital role by providing iT1 with the appropriate tools and knowledge to help us develop and execute our initiatives, and with the newest addition of the TechEDG Alliance program, Tech Data is continuing this trend. We have seen substantial increases in our business and I directly attribute this to our collaborative relationship with TechEDG.  I cannot thank Tech Data enough for their partnership and I look forward to a bright future together."
