CLEARWATER, Fla., July 22, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tech Data Corporation (Nasdaq:TECD) today announced that it has appointed Patrick M. Stokes to vice president, Tech Data Mobile Solutions. In this role, Stokes will lead the strategic direction for Tech Data Mobile Solutions within the U.S., as well as a wide range of associated mobility programs, partner enablement initiatives, and engagement activities.

Stokes joins Tech Data with 24 years of experience in the mobile telecommunications industry. Most recently, Stokes served as president and chief executive officer of Sage Brothers Holdings, an organization founded to create shareholder value by acquiring, better managing, and converting target firms to minority business enterprises. Previously, Stokes was the president and chief operating officer of Brightstar, where he helped transform the company into an industry leader in the mobile distribution space. At Brightstar, Stokes and his team defined the strategies, structure, products, and processes that led the U.S. to become the first billion-dollar country in the company's history. Prior to Brightstar, Stokes held senior executive roles in sales, distribution, and M&A with Verizon and Sprint. Stokes earned a bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Sports Medicine from Western Maryland College and an MBA in Entrepreneurial and Strategic Management from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business.
