TicketCity Announces Annual College Scholarship Program

TicketCity Launches An Annual Scholarship Program For Undergraduate Students

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 18, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TicketCity is proud to announce the launch of the TicketCity Annual College Scholarship Program. This scholarship program provides the opportunity for an undergraduate student to receive $2,500 in financial assistance.

TicketCity has a long history of giving back to their community through various charitable organizations, however, this is the first time they have developed a program of their own to give back. The program has been spearheaded by founder and CEO, Randy Cohen.

Randy, who has two children attending the University of Colorado, explained, "After seeing what it costs to put a child through college and how hard these students work for their education, I determined that we need to do something to support them. A college education is more valuable now than ever and we want to do our part to make sure that there are resources available for these students to achieve their degree."

TicketCity has combined their passion for sports with their desire to give back by creating a scholarship focused around being a fan. In order to apply for the scholarship, students are asked to submit an essay describing either a sporting event that has impacted their lives, their favorite game-day tradition, or the importance of sporting events to the culture of their university. "College students understand how passion and tradition combine to make a sporting event an unforgettable experience," said Randy Cohen.

Randy founded TicketCity in 1990, shortly after graduating from the University of Texas Austin.  "I worked my way through college, as did most of our team at TicketCity, so I view this as an opportunity to provide those hard-working students with much needed funds based on a mutual passion for college sports."

TicketCity is the first ticket marketplace to develop a scholarship program and endeavors to continue finding new and innovative ways to give back to the community. Students who are interested in applying are asked to submit their applications via http://www.ticketcity.com/ticketcity-annual-college-scholarship-program.html by December 1, 2014. TicketCity employees and family members are not eligible.
