Accolades Continue to Accrue for Burnett Plaza with International Award

FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 20, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Burnett Plaza recently received the 2014 TOBY®Award, the international recognition for excellence in commercial real estate management, by the Building Owners and Managers Association International (BOMA). The 40-story LEED-certified building, owned by TIER REIT, Inc. and leased by Red Oak Realty, won the award for the 1 Million Square Feet-plus category.

The Class-A complex located in Fort Worth's central business district competed against buildings from nine different regions, including the major metropolitan areas of New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Burnett Plaza now adds The Outstanding Building of the Year honor to its numerous awards for green architecture and energy management.

Burnett Plaza is located nearby Sundance Square, the Fort Worth Convention Center, the Stockyards and the Museum District. It holds the only view of the two-acre Burnett Park in downtown Fort Worth through an 18-foot high clear glass wall. The plaza also features Jonathon Borofsky's 50-foot aluminum "Man With a Briefcase" sculpture.

"Burnett Plaza is an impressive property and TIER REIT is proud to include it in its portfolio. We have invested a great deal of time into managing this property and I believe the TOBY award is a representation of our commitment," said Greg Brooke, asset manager for TIER REIT properties in Fort Worth, Dallas, Austin and Houston.

Even though Burnett Plaza towers at a notable 567 feet and covers two city blocks, it remains energy efficient and makes use of green technology. The building has a BOMA 360 designation, is LEED Silver certified by the U.S. Green Building Council, and has an Energy Star® rating for operating efficiency from the U.S. Green Building Council.

"Burnett Plaza's prime location combined with its energy conservation initiatives and environmentally-responsible protocols sets it apart from other leasing properties in downtown Fort Worth. This property offers affordable real estate in the central business district with long-term savings through our green-focused operations," said President of Red Oak Realty Jack Clark.
