Tech Data's Filippelli and McClure Named to CRN's 100 People You Don't Know But Should List

CLEARWATER, Fla., Oct. 1, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tech Data Corporation (Nasdaq:TECD) today announced that both Phil Filippelli, the company's vice president, e-Business, and Marc McClure, the company's director, Field Sales for the Eastern U.S., have been named by CRN to the 2014 100 People You Don't Know But Should list. Chosen by the CRN editorial staff with input from vendor, distribution, and solution provider executives, the list recognizes those who have demonstrable impact on vendor channel strategies, initiatives and programs. According to CRN, the list aims to recognize people working within the channel who are not necessarily in the spotlight, but are working behind the scenes to make positive things happen for their partners.

Filippelli is responsible for developing and executing Tech Data's e-business strategy, encompassing a broad range of tools and services designed to help solution providers streamline operations and generate incremental revenue. Since joining Tech Data in April 2011, Filippelli and his e-Business team have helped create the company's award-winning StreamOne global IT platform, award-winning accessTD app, and new SMB website introduced earlier this year.

"Tech Data is proud to recognize Phil for his achievements and leadership within the e-Business organization," said John Tonnison, executive vice president and chief information officer at Tech Data. "Leveraging the latest technology, Phil and his team of experts continue to create innovative new tools to enable and enhance the experience of our channel partners. This honor is well-deserved and reflects Tech Data's commitment to offering a best-in-class customer experience."

McClure joined Tech Data as director, Field Sales for the Eastern U.S. in July 2011. In this role, he oversees the company's field-based selling resources and assists with the development of strategic initiatives and organizational planning for Tech Data's Sales organization. As the IT landscape is constantly changing, Marc and his team help solution providers stay ahead of the curve, offering education and enablement for channel partners seeking to capitalize on opportunities and grow their businesses.

"This recognition is a reflection of Marc's outstanding leadership and ongoing support for solution providers within the IT channel," said Pete Peterson, senior vice president, U.S. Sales at Tech Data. "Marc has consistently driven growth within our sales organization, developing unique strategies for our channel partners' success. We are proud to recognize him and our entire Sales team on their execution and performance."

"The IT industry has a tendency to shine the spotlight on its top executives, but at CRN we know that there are a lot of other hardworking people who deserve to be recognized for their contributions as well," said Robert Faletra, CEO of The Channel Company, publisher of CRN. "This list is our way of recognizing some of the people that are in the trenches, working hard on behalf of the IT channel every day and making decisions that help tip the scales toward channel success."

The 100 People You Don't Know But Should list is featured in the October issue of CRN Magazine and online at www.crn.com.
