From 'The Hunger Games' and 'Casablanca' to 'Ghostbusters' and 'Home Alone': Authentify Invites 'You' to Submit Movie Parodies for NCSAM

CHICAGO, Oct. 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- This month marks the 11th anniversary of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM), sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security.

Shining a spotlight on NCSAM, Authentify is sponsoring an online-only event featuring parody movie posters or scenes whose characters are recast in cybersecurity roles or styles. Submissions will be shared on the Authentify website (http://info.authentify.com/posters). The event is open to Authentify employees and the general public. Participants are invited to submit a poster or movie scene parody by emailing a PDF file to info@authentify.com. Anyone who submits an entry will receive an Authentify T-shirt. Anything that is not suitable for work environments will be discarded, and file sizes larger than 5 MB will be undeliverable.

Why National Cyber Security Awareness Month?

The Internet is a critical piece of national infrastructure, and the month of October is designated as a reminder for all that every citizen can play a role in protecting it and that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility. The Internet and digital technology are tightly woven into the fabric of American lives. Increasing the knowledge of cyberthreats against that fabric and protecting it is a national priority. Every citizen experiences many instances of connectedness each day either through social media, text messages, emails or shopping on e-commerce sites, to name just a few. Today, there are very few businesses or individuals that are not in some way, shape or form, dependent upon Internet connectivity for their livelihoods.

This year's NCSAM theme is "Our Shared Responsibility." Authentify's goal is to increase awareness among companies and individuals, both within the IT security industry and other industries that rely on the Internet for success, about the safety of the Internet and to encourage them to embrace National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

Throughout the month of October, Authentify will be sharing password and authentication tips, ideas and security techniques to promote National Cyber Security Awareness. Each week will focus on a different topic related to cybersecurity. For example, the second week of October will look at securing the development of IT products and educating consumers on the signs of a secure device.

So send in your creative security parody movie posters, and be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages for updates!
