SEATTLE, Wash., Oct. 27, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - In May of this year, Blue Box--a Seattle-based provider of on-demand private cloud as a service (PCaaS) on dedicated hardware-- announced general availability of its private cloud as a service offering, Blue Box Cloud. In the five months since that release, the company has built market validation through customer adoption, positive reviews from industry analysts, successful partner recruitment, key additions to the company's technology and commercial teams, and a successful Series B investment round.
Customer Adoption
Since its launch in May, Blue Box Cloud has added customers and expanded early adopter deployments. Companies using Blue Box Cloud include Leysin American School, Case Commons, Registria, Travis CI, Deseret Book, BioIQ, Big Fish Games, Tesora and others. Blue Box is also seeing expanded use of Blue Box Cloud within their customer base with many customers adding additional capacity and capabilities to their Blue Box Cloud deployments.
Assembly of Senior Team
Also during the last five months, Blue Box has strengthened its engineering and sales teams with talent from Piston Cloud, Rackspace, DocuSign, and CenturyLink Cloud. In addition, founder and CTO Jesse Proudman has rounded out a powerhouse senior management team with the additions of Matthew Schiltz, Bob DeSantis, and Ken Cavallon and the promotion of Hernan Alvarez.
Three Data Centers on Two Continents
In August, Blue Box announced that it had joined the Equinix Cloud Exchange. This partnership with Equinix is the next step towards the broader goal of increasing the companies global data center footprint. Today, Blue Box Cloud is deployed in three data centers across two continents: Seattle, Washington, Ashburn, Virginia and Zurich, Switzerland.
Partner Program
In early September, Blue Box announced the launch of the Blue Box Cloud Partner Program. The program is designed to let xSPs of all types, VARs, IT consultants, service providers and cloud & telco brokers deliver hosted Private Cloud solutions to their customers without investing in capital or intellectual property. The Blue Box Cloud Partner Program has tiered partnership levels ranging from percentage-based referrals to private label offerings. The program enables Partners to quickly add "Cloud" to their portfolio with minimal investment and makes it easy for Partners to earn healthy margins with the best-in-class Blue Box Cloud PCaaS solution.
The Blue Box Partner ecosystem consists of partners of all types including, among others: Equinix, StrataCore, Tesora, Datec, Mendix, Avail Partners, Options I/O and TelcoPrime. Blue Box Cloud allows channel partners to convert their customers to cloud infrastructure rather than lose them to competitive offerings.
Month-to-Month Pricing
Also in September, Blue Box introduced month-to-month pricing on Blue Box Cloud, providing true Private Cloud functionality with a flexible pricing model. Blue Box's month-to-month pricing offers clients a low cost of entry, low risk and maximum flexibility as their requirements and workload demands change over time. Month-to-month pricing for Blue Box Cloud is available for both an initial Cloud Cluster as well as incremental capacity.
Series B Financing
Earlier this month, Blue Box closed a $10 million Series B financing. The round will allow the company to build on its successes over the past year and fuel continued technical innovation, significant growth of the engineering team and expansion of the company's partnership, sales and marketing programs.
Supporting Quote
"Blue Box Cloud launched in May with a simple promise: we wanted to provide our customers with the agility and elasticity of public cloud coupled with the benefits of traditional, on-premises private cloud: control, compliance, data sovereignty, and performance. We wanted private cloud for the masses. Our vision is simple and big: 'deploy a private cloud anywhere in the world in under an hour.' While we are not there yet, we've made incredible progress in just five months, with customers, three data centers on two continents, monthly pricing, new partnerships, and recruited an all-star team of engineers, sales professionals and support cast. In short, we have built unbelievable momentum."
--Jesse Proudman, founder and CTO
