InterDigital Prevails Over ZTE in Delaware District Court

Jury Finds InterDigital Patents Infringed by ZTE 3G and 4G Cellular Devices

WILMINGTON, Del., Oct. 28, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- InterDigital, Inc. (Nasdaq:IDCC), a wireless research and development company, today prevailed in a jury verdict involving ZTE before the United States District Court for the District of Delaware.

In the decision, the jury found that three patents in the case were both valid and infringed. The patents at issue were U.S. patent numbers 7,190,966 and 7,286,847 (collectively referred to as the "power ramp-up patents") and U.S. patent number 8,380,244. As to the remaining patent in the case (U.S. patent number 7,941,151), the judge determined that further construction of certain claim language is required. The judge decided to hold another trial as to ZTE's infringement of the '151 patent at a later date.

"The jury's verdict today validates InterDigital's significant contributions to the advancement of the cellular wireless industry, and supports the company's longstanding licensing program in the industry," said William J. Merritt, President and CEO of InterDigital. "We hope the verdict motivates ZTE and others to reach fair and reasonable license agreements with InterDigital for the use of our valuable portfolio of patents, which stems from the fundamental research in wireless technologies that we have conducted for decades and continues today."
