LMI Aerospace, Inc. Celebrates Military Transport Airlift With Embraer

Successful Design Build Program for LMI


ST. LOUIS, Oct. 29, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- LMI Aerospace, Inc. (Nasdaq:LMIA), a leading aerostructures and engineering services provider to the commercial, business and regional, and military aerospace markets, today announced another major milestone in a successful design build program with Embraer.

LMI's integrated Design Build team began working with Embraer in 2011 on producing the moveable leading edge slat assembly for the Embraer KC-390 military transport aircraft. "This program is the beginning of what we expect to be a long-term relationship with Embraer and another successful demonstration of our talented engineering team developing a product from specification to production," said CEO Dan Korte.   

Chris Lager, Program Manager for the KC-390 was on site in Gavião Peixoto, Brazil for the Embraer rollout celebration on October 21st, 2014. "We are pleased to see our completed slat assemblies on this high-technology aircraft," said Lager. "It has been a pleasure working with Embraer and we look forward to the first flight scheduled to take place by the end of this year."

There are 10 moveable slat assemblies per aircraft. This program is a joint effort involving several LMI facilities with the slat assembly occurring in our facility in St. Charles, MO and the skins and machine formed structural components fabricated in other plants in California, Kansas and Missouri.
