Toronto-Based Prospect Media and Stratafly Merge in Response to Growing Demand for Print Media Solutions

TORONTO, Nov. 5, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Two of Canada's leading print media companies have now joined forces. Prospect Media and Stratafly are now working as one.

"We wanted to combine the power of two leading print media companies and create the premier direct-to-consumer agency in Canada to help clients plan and forecast print media's impact on consumers over the next five to ten years, and beyond," said Prospect Media's President, David Maples.

Operating under the banner of Prospect Media, the company will service a wide range of national clients including retailers, CPG and others with more resources, talent and offerings than the two agencies could have achieved separately.

The more robust Prospect Media addresses increasing demand for highly strategic print solutions across the board. The company works with over 1,000 newspapers and distributors across Canada to deliver analytics-based print advertising in various formats, such as flyers, door hangers and product samples – often in tandem with intuitive digital offerings.

"As one, we will be able to offer the widest range of print media services in Canada," said Dave Mathews, a Stratafly founder and partner, and now Managing Director with Prospect Media. "We are a leader in the flyer business and currently dominate the door hang and sampling landscape, as well as print marketing to niche audiences, including new moms, new immigrants and students."

A recent BrandSpark study found that 90% of Canadians read printed flyers regularly, and seven in 10 Canadians have read a print newspaper in the past week.

This summer's anti-spam legislation served to reinforce the advantages of direct marketing, and regulations such as CASL have fueled the print media industry.

"When a print advertising message is delivered directly to the house, consumers are five times more likely to shop at a store," Mathews said. "But there is a unique strategy behind each and every initiative. Retailers' flyer programs are supported by ROP and proven traffic-drivers such as door hang card programs to support specific events, and reinforced on their digital channels – all driven by media analysis and a powerful analytics engine to guide efforts and deliver ROI."

To coincide with the merger of the two companies, Prospect Media has enhanced its proprietary online portal for its clients – called Flytime – that allows its retail clients to access their custom store analytics online. Data includes top sales areas; coupon redemption rates; store locations; competitor locations; flyer, direct mail, door hang card coverage areas; and areas with the most sales potential for their business.

"We custom-built Flytime for each client so they have real data accessible at any time at their fingertips," said Mathews.
