Population Media Center Reveals New Website

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt., Nov. 18, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- An interactive map of projects completed around the world, population projections for countries, amazing photography, and audio and video clips of dramatic TV and radio shows are just a few of the things you'll find when you visit Population Media Center's new website: www.populationmedia.org.

"We wanted the website experience to be informative, but also engaging and fun," says Missie Thurston, Population Media Center's Director of Marketing and Communications. "We tell stories around the world to positively change people's lives. We wanted our web visitors to see passion, urgency, and optimism because our work is about empowering people and showing that change is possible."

Population Media Center (PMC) uses entertainment-education, particularly TV and radio dramas, to address health, human rights, and environmental protection issues around the world.

"The new website clarifies the issues we address as well as our approach to the issues," says Joe Bish, PMC's Director of Issues Advocacy. "It does a much better job of showing people how we work and how entertainment-education is constructed and employed."

The new website includes a number of new features, as well as some of the favorites from the previous site. PMC's marketing department partnered with TMBR, a full service Creative Agency based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, to create the new site.

"It's both rewarding and inspirational for our entire team to work on project that have a much larger impact than just selling another 'widget,'" says Brian Modena, Founding Partner of TMBR. "As an agency, we make a very conscious effort to allocate at least 20 percent of our annual workload to organizations working for the greater good."

The new website is responsive, allowing the site to function well across devices such as smart phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops. One of the favorite features of web visitors so far is the interactive map of PMC's projects that allows desktop and tablet visitors to filter by project type and search based on geographic region. It was an exciting undertaking for PMC and TMBR as well.

"One of the most exciting pieces of this project was representing PMC's global initiatives through an interactive map," says Modena. "Working with Population Media Center gave us an opportunity to produce a site for an organization with global reach and that was a very exciting opportunity for us."
