DAVID WEEKLEY HOMES AND FRIENDS FLOCK TOGETHER TO PROVIDE CHARITIES WITH 800 TURKEYS, THOUSANDS IN DONATIONS

HOUSTON, Nov. 26, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In the spirit of giving back and fulfilling the company's purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives, David Weekley Homes, the nation's largest privately-held builder, hosted turkey drives in six of its cities, collecting more than 800 frozen turkeys and $31,500 for local charities. The David Weekley Family Foundation donated an additional $20,000 to help feed those in need this holiday season.

To reach this feat, Weekley team members in Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Jacksonville, Orlando and Raleigh partnered with homeowners, vendors, friends and family. The builder's turkey drive efforts began with Charlotte's first event in 2006 to help provide the main meal for thousands of less fortunate families to enjoy in the comforts of their own home during Thanksgiving. Now in its eighth year, the Charlotte division donated more than 450 frozen turkeys and $20,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

In their third year, the company's Atlanta division donated Thanksgiving birds and monetary gifts to MUST Ministries of Atlanta. Weekley's Orlando operations held their first-ever turkey drive this year, benefitting Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.

Raleigh provided donations to Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, Jacksonville to Farm Share in Northeast Florida and Houston to Star of Hope.

As part of its culture, David Weekley Homes strives to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by the Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad since 1976.
