vitaTrackr Announces Relocation to Austin, TX; plans first of its kind test market in Austin

Baltimore, Dec. 16, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- vitaTrackr, Inc., a global leader in organizing an independent and open health data market today announced it is relocating its headquarters to Austin, Texas.

Brian Baum, founder and CEO of vitaTrackr said, "the support we've received in Texas and in particular within the City of Austin has been overwhelming." vitaTrackr takes a fresh look at a challenge that has stalled the attainment of the triple goals of information technology and data utilization in healthcare: greater access, improved outcomes and lower costs.  "In Austin we have found a passion for innovation and leadership in healthcare across the health, business and government sectors."

vitaTrackr is working with stakeholders throughout the Austin community to finalize plans for a test-market  of its innovative health data marketplace expected to go live early in 2015.

Baum added, "the fact that Austin has supported the construction of the first new medical school attached to a Tier 1 research university in the country over the last fifty years is evidence of its commitment to the health of the community and its intent to shape the future of healthcare.  The Dell Medical School was a significant factor in our decision to come to Austin."

"In 2012, we promised the voters of Travis County that the Dell Medical School would help transform the healthcare landscape in Austin. vitaTrackr's decision to relocate to Austin is proof that transformation is already under way," said state Sen. Kirk Watson, D-Austin." The start-up saw Austin as an ideal place to test its innovation and we're thrilled to have them here."

"Healthcare is a major challenge facing not only Austin and Texas, but our Nation overall. Quality, accessible and affordable healthcare is essential to our long term success," added Pete Winstead, Chairman of the Greater Austin Economic Development Corporation at the Austin Chamber. "We look forward to working with vitaTrackr and the companion projects of the Dell Medical School and the Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas and the greater Austin business community to place Austin at the forefront of health innovation."
