BETHESDA, Md., Jan. 6, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) has announced the availability of two research awards of $100,000 each, over a two-year period. The application deadline is March 4, 2015. Qualified applicants may find more information at www.bcan.org.
The Young Investigator Awards fund researchers in basic, translational, clinical, epidemiologic, bio-engineering or any other scientific or research field, but who are also working in a research environment capable of supporting transformational bladder cancer research. The program, first launched in 2013, hopes to inspire more investigators to join the bladder cancer field, a disease in which more research is desperately needed. To date, BCAN has invested $600,000 to fund Young Investigator Awards.
Through the generosity of BCAN donors, the eligible awards for 2015 are the Miriam Gleberman Young Investigator Award and the Stephen Hale Gushée Young Investigator Award. The Gushée award was funded by proceeds from the 2014 Palm Beach Shop & Stroll event.
