Dr. Donato J. Stinghen Named Associate Chief Medical Officer for Alameda Hospital


OAKLAND, Calif., Jan. 26, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Alameda Health System (AHS) announced that Dr. Donato J. Stinghen has been named Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) for Alameda Hospital (AH), effective immediately. As ACMO, he will work with AHS Chief Medical Officer Dr. William Peruzzi and AH Medical Staff President Dr. John Iocco in overseeing the delivery of health care to patients at Alameda Hospital and its award-winning Certified Primary Stroke Center, Creedon Center for Advanced Wound Care, Bay Area Bone and Joint Center, and Waters Edge and South Shore Skilled Nursing Facilities.

"Don has a relationship with AHS spanning back to his internship and residency at Highland Hospital," said Dr. Peruzzi. "His dedication to ensuring the delivery of world-class quality care in our community through his roles at Alameda Hospital and San Leandro Hospital, among others, and his understanding of the day-to-day challenges hospitals must address position him to be an excellent ACMO."

Along with his work at AH, Dr. Stinghen most recently served as active medical staff at San Leandro Hospital, Summit Hospital, San Ramon Regional Medical Center and Eden Hospital. He was also a practicing vascular surgeon at the General Vascular Surgery Medical Group in San Leandro, California. At AH, Dr. Stinghen has served in several leadership roles including Chairman of the Surgery Committee, Chairman of Surgery and President of the Medical Staff.

Dr. Stinghen received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of California, Davis and a Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, California Medical Association, East Bay Surgical Society and Society of General Surgeons.
