Chef Konstantin Plavnik Named Executive Chef of Boomtown Casino and Hotel

BOSSIER CITY, La., Feb. 2, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Boomtown Casino and Hotel announced today the addition of Executive Chef Konstantin Plavnik to the culinary team. Chef Plavnik brings a wealth of culinary experience opening restaurants, leading culinary teams and creating unforgettable cuisine. In his new role, he is responsible for all culinary operations overseeing Cattleman's Buffet, Boomers, 1800 Prime and banquet operations.

Chef Plavnik comes to Bossier City by way of San Diego, California, where he delivered new American and global cuisine at many trendy restaurants including Bailiwick, Raglan Public House and Queenstown Public House. He had the opportunity to work with Bravo's Top Chef finalist, Brian Malarkey, opening the kitchen at Searsucker in San Diego, California. Searsucker won 2nd best new restaurant in the nation award by TIME. Chef Plavnik has always supported using local organic ingredients, while thinking 'outside the box' when creating his specialty dishes.

"Chef Plavnik has extensive knowledge of the food and beverage industry and will be a great asset to the leadership team in Bossier City. The guests are going to love what he creates for them," said Austin Muchemore, General Manager and Vice President.

A native of Russia, he and his family immigrated to the United States when he was nine years old. He grew up in the kitchen cooking with his grandmother and still uses many of her recipes. Chef Plavnik is excited to come back south, since he spent his teenage and college years in Alabama. He graduated from Auburn University where he earned an international business degree and then an associate degree in culinary arts from The Art Institute of California. He is fascinated with different cooking methods and has become an expert in Sous Vide cooking, cooking in a water bath. He feels instant gratification when a guest tells him they love one of his dishes. When not cooking, he enjoys scuba diving and playing pool.
